'Wonderful Easter'

Hello lovelies :)
I am back to share with you another layout I created with the April kit
from Scraps of Elegance called 'Wonderful'...

'Wonderful Easter'

How pretty are these 'BoBunny' papers? I used several pieces from this 'Secret Garden' collection here. I tore large pieces of the different papers and created some layers then I used some white gesso over everything and then added some stamping and lots of Prima flowers. This sweet photo is of my boy in his bunny ears from several Easters ago :)

This kit has already sold out, but you can find out here, how to become a subscriber.
And don't forget to check out our blog here.

I would like to enter my layout in a challenge I found on the
blog 'Scrap Therapy' - 'Easter'.

Please take a look at this challenge here, I am still lingering over all the
work created for this challenge, super inspiring and so very beautiful.

Here are a few close ups:

I loved the flowers that came in the 'Floral Add On', and I added a few
from a past kit too.

I treated myself to the 'Creativity Add On' this month that had the beautiful Prima oil pastels together with some Prima watercolor brush pens, and I love how they look! Gorgeous bright juicy colors and very easy to use. Here I just rubbed the oil pastels in purple pink and blue in different areas and then went over them with the watercolor brush to spread the color around a little. You can also rub them in a small paint palette and add water to create a lighter watercolor wash.

I created a little banner for the top of my page using the 'BoBunny' 'Secret Garden' collection buttons that I thread onto some string, and I also used some of the 'BoBunny' 'Secret Garden' collection brads that both came in the 'Element's Add On'.

See you soon!

'This is My Story'

Good morning my crafty peeps! I am here to share with you a page I designed

'This is My Story'

I took this selfie after a girlfriend of mine gave me these sparkly earrings for my birthday
one year, and even though I've scrapped this photo before, I came across it in my photo
box and right away I thought about how the diamond shaped earrings looked just like
some pieces of 2 Crafty Chipboard I had, and my idea was born.

2 Crafty Chipboard pieces used:
'This is My Story'
'Element Set 1'
'Element Set 2'
'Film Strip Medium'

I've used some of the new Prima collection 'Salvage District' and I love how it
turned out...I'm starting to really enjoy using dark papers, it makes everything
look so dramatic :)

One of my favourite pieces of 2 Crafty Chipboard are the film strips...here I just painted one
messily with black ink.

I wanted the 'Element Set' to mimic my earrings, so I painted them with white gesso,
and then embossed them in silver.

Did you know you have a chance to win a prize pack of 2 Crafty Chipboards?
All you have to do is become a follower of our blog, and leave a comment,
and you are entered into the drawing! They have a winner every month!
You can find our blog here, and our Face Book group here.

There are a couple of online stores where you can find 2 Crafty Chipboard
available in the USA...at The Flying Unicorn, and The Scrapbook Diaries.

Thanks so much for looking!
I really appreciate your kind comments, they make my day :)
Love, Lisa xo

'Dream'

Hello! The lovely ladies over at the blog Scrap Africa have invited me to
be a Guest Designer this month using a beautiful and colorful mood board,
and this is what I created....

'Dream'

I started with some Prima paper from the 'Royal Menagerie' collection and then did some masking with heavy white gesso to build up some texture. Then I used some of my new Prima Metallique acrylic paints in 'Lime Peel', 'Rich Turquoise' and 'Gold Rush'. Now I have to say that I am really an ink girl, I use a lot of different inks and sprays from a lot of different manufacturers, but I am totally head over heels in love with these Prima paints. The colors are so rich and beautiful, with an almost iridescent sheen to them. I mixed a little bit of paint with just a little bit of water and they were so fun to work with. You can get a really light look like I have done here, or use less water for a more saturated color.
I have to have every color of these paints :)

Here is the mood board:

I was inspired by the beautiful colors and the saying,
for more details on how to join the challenge, please go here.

Isn't this 2 Crafty Chipboard piece gorgeous? It's called 'Ornate Door',
and I thought it looked so pretty as a kind of doorway into which my photo was leading.
I covered it in thick white gesso, heated it until it bubbled and cracked,
and then brushed on some Prima gold paint.

Thank you Denise for having me this month, it was a joy!

....'here comes the sun...'

Hello crafty girls...how about a little sunshine this morning?
It's been a rainy grey week where I live, so I really welcomed the bright sunny colors
of this month's palette at Words & Painterly...

'here comes the sun'

I created this layout with some of the new paper from the 'Vintage Emporium' collection by Prima as it already had a hint of the yellows and oranges. Lots of layers, flowers and some inks from Lindy's Stamp Gang really brought this page to life.

Here is the wonderful color palette for April:

For more details on how to enter the challenge please go here.
There are always great prizes and a Creative Guest so I hope that you join us!

Thanks for looking, have a wonderful weekend,

...a little birdie told me....

Cheerio my crafty girls! I'm taking a moment to share with you my very first creation
with the lovely new kit from Scraps of Elegance called 'Wonderful'.

One of the things I've noticed in creating layouts over the years, is that the pages of mine that I like the most somehow have taken design clues straight from the papers I use. In this case, even though these gorgeous papers by Fabscraps with the soft blues, pinks and browns screamed shabby chic,  when I saw the black ink markings down the sides and around the edges of this paper,  I decided to create something really pretty but with an edge of darkness to it. Another design tip I followed is repeating the look of the black lines with a stencil and heavy white gesso to add texture and to further emphasize that feature of the paper. I often spend a few days just staring at the kit papers and try to let them 'talk' to me...ok, now you're thinking, she's lost her mind! lol I just thought I'd share some tips and tricks as to what I believe results in a design that your happy with in the end and one that 'works'. Creating a harmonious overall look by repeating design elements creates a visual rhythm to your work that's pleasing to the eye.  Of course, so many things happen a long the way while you're creating a page that aren't planned, and that's great too!

Here is the beautiful kit for April...

These kits sell like hotcakes so the best thing to do is become a subscriber...
more info on that here, And don't forget to check out our blog here.

Some close ups...

I used the Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder called 'Cosmic Blue
Violet' on the Blue Fern Studios chipboard 'Small Spring Iris'
the vertical lines played into my design perfectly :)

The 'Bird in Cage' stamp is so adorable I loved it. I used both the little saying and
the bird cage stamp all around the page. I also used the BoBunny Laser Cut Chipboard
Tag: 'Trellis', the BoBunny 'Secret Garden' collection brads from the 'Elements' kit add-on,
and the pink Prima 'Slate' flowers from the 'Floral' add-on.

See you soon,  Lisa xo

'Be brave'

'He who is brave, is free."
- Seneca

Happy monday to all my crafty girls, hope you are all well :)
While waiting on my April kit from Scraps of Darkness, I created one
more layout with our last kit 'Garden Gala'.

'Be brave'

This is my fourth project with this kit, and there's still so much left to play with! This Blue Fern Studios paper and the Prima ephemera pack went so well together. I have a box of photos that I keep for my layouts and this one looked like it was from a fairytale unfolding in a garden...

I would like to enter my layout in a challenge I found on a Russian blog (surprise! :)
called Studio Leto for Sketch No. 1:

More details on this challenge here.

I created a simple background with some clear gesso over the whole page,
added some heavy gesso through a stencil, and then built up a lot of layers with
pieces from the ephemera pack, and lots of flowers.

I used from the kit:
Blue Fern Studios paper 'Fascination'
Blue Fern Studios stamp
Prima Ephemera pack 'Melange'
Petaloo flowers

I also added some beautiful ornate 2 Crafty Chipboard that I embossed, to add a medieval look.
Then I used some watercolors to add some earthy colors.

See you soon :)
