....goth girls....

Hello my crafty ladies....

I hope this post finds you all well..... I am dropping in today to share a layout I created for the beautiful blog called SkrapKopilka.

I won a challenge back in March and they so kindly invited me to Guest Design
and use the following sketch...To find out more about how to enter this challenge
please go here....

Here are a few close ups....

The 7 Dots paper 'Domestic Goddess' was the perfect backdrop for my rather haunted vintage photograph. My lovely readers I'll tell you something if you promise not to laugh....you know those geeky super strange kids that are dressed all gothic? That was me in high school! Yes, I (unfortunately) went all in, listening to Siouxsie and the Banshees and wearing lots of black ( I even dyed my hair black...MUCH to my mother's chagrin...). One of my favourite pastimes was hanging out in all the vintage shops in Kensington Market picking out clothes....Scottish kilts with that cool pin was one of my favourite looks...Anyway.... the point of all of that is that when I set myself free to start a layout and just see where it takes me, I find that goth streak coming back into my art with strangely dark, mysterious centuries-old photos, lots and lots of textures and rich, deep saturated colors mixed with puddles of black ink..... I stared at this one for quite a while after it was finished wondering if I liked it...(and what had possessed me, lol)....you'll have to tell me what you think...

I used a new Tim Holtz stencil with very heavy gesso to create some pretty swirls in the background and then added lots of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in Passionate Plum, Bucaneer Bronze, Violaceous Violet and Midnight Rendevous Raven.

I love using Prima beads lately to add even more texture.

 My gothic girls....strange but true....
Thanks for stopping by,
Lisa xo

'bring on the adventure...'

Hello there crafty friends....so glad you dropped by!

I am back to share another layout using the March Scraps of Elegance kit called 'Anna's Daydream'..

'bring on the adventure....'

Did you know that each month there is a beautiful new mood board to be inspired by over at The Scraps of Elegance/Darkness Facebook community? You can find challenges, swaps, inspiration and a lovely group of girls all sharing their passion for creating...
Please go here to join in the fun and to see the rules for entering the challenge.
This month's board was created by Fena, a designer for Scraps of Darkness.
To see more of her beautiful work please visit her blog 'Paper Memories'.

Isn't it lovely? I was inspired by the earthy colors, the old books, and the keys.

Here are a few close ups...

I used the Blue Fern Studios chipboard piece called 'Kimmy's Window' that came with the kit as the perfect backdrop to my photo of a girl reading by a window. I then took the gorgeous peach colored Prima flower apart and used the different pieces underneath my photo.

The 'No 3' paper from 7 Dots Studio was the perfect base for my cream colored flowers. I loved the cotton lace that came with the kit, one of my favourite embellishments to add to a page. I tucked in one of the metal pieces and then finished it all with a 7 Dots Studio sticker.
Some of the best adventures ever are the ones found in books :)

This key was from a past Scraps of Elegance kit...I am on my third layout with this months kit and still have quite a bit left to create with! For more info on our kits please go here...

I found an unusual sketch that I saw on a cool Russian challenge blog called ArtUgolok.
....I am a bit infatuated with Russian blogs at the moment...so much beautiful work!

Here is the sketch...

'moments' a new layout for Scraps of Elegance

Hello lovelies....I hope everyone is well...

I have had a little extra crafty time this week due to Spring Break, and it's been so wonderful to work with the March Scraps of Elegance kit called "Anna's Daydream'.....

'moments'

My heart skipped a few beats when I opened March's package and saw the gorgeous 'Thoughts Keeper' collection from 7 Dots Studio...my absolute favourite kind of paper; rich muted colors, and beautiful patterns with a vintage romantic feel.

Here is the kit from March...

The release of the March kit was delayed last month, and so the April Scraps of Elegance kit was just released yesterday, and it has already sold out! These kits sell out just as soon as they hit the store, so the best option would be to become a subscriber and never miss a month! I am so happy with each and every kit so far, they are always full of the newest prettiest paper collections, paired with gorgeous stamps, mediums, and flowers.

To find the Scraps of Elegance & Darkness store please go here...
and don't forget to check out the blog here....

Here are a few close ups....

I would like to enter my layout in a challenge found on the beautiful Ukranian blog called 'Kiev Scrap Club'.
Here is the current sketch I used...

For more information about this challenge please go here...

I loved the metal flowers and medallions that came with the kit. I altered the beautiful Blue Fern Studios chipboard frame with a coat of gesso and then stamped it lightly with black ink.

I used the 7Dots Studio 'Thoughts Keeper' stamp set which matched perfectly with the patterned paper. I added some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays, 'Salt Water Taffy', 'Bodacious Blush', 'Long John Silver', 'Dark Chocolate Truffle' and 'Black Orchid Silver'.

See you soon....
Lisa xo
